To get 25-years-old Ryan “gutshtallin”, Welch took a gain of almost $70,000 in January to refrain from his day job in sales in support of life as a poker player. The poker was a natural fit for his competitive edge Southern Illinois, as he played baseball in college.

On January 27, 2008 the score was for taking down the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl, which is an appealing great way to start off a year as a poker pro. In October, he won the final table of “The Sunday Brawl” and again the last Sunday in another marquee event, he took down PokerStars Sunday Warmup, netting him nearly $100,000.
