Open letter sent to FRB and US Treasury

August 2nd, 2008

An open letter was sent to the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and U.S. Treasury for the vague language contained in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

This letter, which was sent, depicted the UIGEA support but insisted in the declaration of the clear definition of the “Unlawful Internet Gambling”.

Jim Gerlach (R-PA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Judy Biggert (R-IL) and Christopher Shays (R-CT) were the people who were included in writing this letter on 25 July.

In this letter, which was addressed to the Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Ben Bernanke, they have asked to correct the obscure language to define “Unlawful Internet Gambling” with some other steps to include in the process of UIGEA.
