New gambling rules in Norway
June 16th, 2008Trond Griske, who is a Norway’s Minister of Culture and Churches, has asked for the implementation of new rules and regulations in the gambling machines which will actually limit the money spend on betting by the player per game. And also to have a check on how much they can loose per game, how long they are playing the game so that the government can keep a check on it by having these strict rules.
The Norwegian Government claims that it is concerned about the increasing reports of compulsive gambling and in the last year it has banned the ordinary one-armed bandits. The new video machines will be governed and controlled by the lottery company which is state monopolized and it does not take cash or credit cards and is operated by prepaid electronic cards only which are sold by Norske Tipping and are registered in the names of only specific players.
Griske was in the headlines previously for his ideas for controlling the online gambling in Norway by disallowing the financial transactions with online companies of gambling as proposed by the UIGEA. Though, such kind of a step is highly welcomed by the Norske Tipping which is a gambling monopoly.
