Judge in Washington Refused the Bid to knock over Online Poker and Gambling Ban
May 21st, 2008The state won the battle to knock over the ban on internet gambling and making the players happy who want to play for real money.
King County Judge Mary Roberts has refused the lawsuit filed by Lee Rousso, the Washington State Director of the Poker Players Alliance and an avid player of Poker and gambling. On July 1, 2007 Rousso claimed that the new law discriminates against the business done in interstate and also it violates the US Constitution Commerce Clause.
The Judge said that Rousso had fought for 10 months to bring the suit forward but could not validate the law.
Reacting to the judge’s decision Rousso said that Gambling is a gigantic business and the state loves gambling and it is the state which is protecting its turf.
People said that Washington is the only state that prohibits online betting of any type. Politicians are interfering with what one can do in the privacy of their home.
Rousso plans to go all the way to US Supreme Court and appeal again to fight the case.
